The exhibition AFTER/LIFE curated by Alla Efimova at the GTU Center for Arts & Religion (CARe) Doug Adams Gallery presents the work of artists Ed Aulerich-Sugai and Mark Mitchell. The artists were both affected by HIV/AIDS and their artwork and lives reverberate in radical acts of love. Amid the current COVID-19 pandemic, this work returns us to themes of hope, solace, and the experience of grief. Alongside the exhibition, CARe shares a short video tour of the exhibition and next week will convene a conversation on faith-based leadership and the role of community spaces in providing counsel, advocacy, and activism during the onset of HIV/AIDS and today. We also share some readings and press related to the exhibition.

PANEL DISCUSSION: HIV/ AIDS MINISTRY, PAST AND PRESENT
On Tuesday, May 26 at 5:00 pm, join CARe remotely on Zoom for a panel discussion presented in conjunction with AFTER/LIFE, featuring a diverse group of accomplished panelists who will discuss spirituality, ministry, and community in the days when AIDS was first recognized and in more recent times.
Moderated by Dr. Bernard Schlager (Executive Director, Center for LGBTQ and Gender Studies in Religion), panelists include: Bishop Yvette A. Flunder (City of Refuge UCC), Rabbi Jane Litman (Jewish Roundtable, CLGS and Rabbi, Chico Havurah), the Rev. Elder Jim Mitulski (Interim Pastor, Island United Church UCC, Foster City and AIDS activist), and Steven Tierney (Professor Emeritus, counseling psychology, California Institute of Integral Studies, and Clinical Director, Seeds of Awareness, Oakland).
